World of Warcraft: Eternity's End - Hexagon Rock Kit

One of the biggest kits I have ever gotten to work on was this giant hexagon rock kit for the entirety of Zereth Mortis. When we first were brainstorming this zone, a theme that we wanted to play with was "the building blocks of life." This is the zone where the Progenitors experimented with creation, so we themed this zone on what that idea could be. With the idea that they were literally pulling up elements of the ground to build this zone, it sparked into this hexagon rock formation you see all over the zone.

It was really fun building all of the pieces that lined up perfectly on a tileset grid made by Nick Murano. Each cluster of hexes fits perfectly on this tileset and made placing them around very aesthetically pleasing. I am taken away by what the level designers on this zone did with this kit. The whole zone looks amazing and I love all the creative ways they chose to use them.

Along with the main hexagon rock kit, I was also tasked to make some demolished pieces and some bridges. Dungeon art had already started playing with this blue and orange specular rock on the surface of their structures, so I used that as inspiration as to what the inside of the rocks might hold. I chose to go with a bronze-colored metal to tie into the floating orbs seen all over the zone and to add a bit of color to the grey rock. The bridges were a lot of fun to create, as stated before, it was like getting to play with building blocks.
